Three Wheeled Buggies
Whether you're looking for a buggy to run with or just a compact stroller for neighbourhood walks, three wheeled buggies provide great mobility. Their compact design makes them easy to maneuver even in tight spots.
For a smooth ride, go for a pram fitted with air-filled tyres. Also, look for models with an swivel wheel that rotates 360 degrees in front. They are prone, however to punctures. Make sure you have an repair kit.

Frame made of sturdy material
Recent figures have been released showing that the three-wheeled vehicle which was a symbol of the decade of more money than wisdom is on the verge of disappearing. They have been replaced by four-wheelers which can be more versatile in terrain, yet still look swanky and being easy to push.
The basic rule is that the bigger the wheels are, the easier it will be for your buggy to cope with bumpy ground and rough pavements. With larger wheels front and back makes it easier to manoeuvre and more stable when walking downhill or on rough terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tried this buggy on an infant and a toddler and found it to be very sturdy. It was able to withstand cobbles, grass, and rough pavements as well as dirt tracks and kerbs. She said that it felt solid to push and very stable on difficult terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable and require occasional pumping) come with suspension built-in which was extremely comfortable for my children.
The shape and size of the seat is another aspect to consider. It should be big enough for your child's comfort and you will also want it to be able to recline for them to lie flat. Some three-wheel buggies offer the option of lying flat, which allows the child to face you, while other buggies only allow a face-to-parent one.
The Roma Atlas is a great alternative for off-road or walking in muddy areas. It can be used as a one-person unit from birth and then adapts to take two children when your family expands. It is suitable for infants and toddlers up to age four and includes a bumper bar, raincover, improved 5-point harness and large cushioned seat unit. Storage options are also good, with a large basket, zip pockets on the hood, and a handy pouch on the rear of the seat unit.
Larger wheels
Larger wheels mean your buggy will have more stability on uneven terrain, which is ideal for buggies that are off-road. They also allow you to maneuver the pushchair in tight spaces. Some three-wheeled buggies feature wheels that swivel at the front to help you navigate tight corners. Others are designed for running and have fixed wheels that lock for increased speed and stability. This also helps when you crash into a tree root or stray road, as the front wheel will rise up a bit to prevent you from hitting it.
A majority of 3 wheel pushchairs come with air-filled tyres, which means they can be used on many different terrains and are far more flexible than 4-wheeler. They are also lighter. They are more prone to punctures, and you'll require a repair kit and spare inner tube on hand.
Some of our favourite 3-wheelers include the Mountain Buggy Core and Venicci Carbo Lux. These buggies, according to MFM's Kath, have larger wheels that according to her "perform well on gravel roads, grass and market town cobbles", and can easily go up or down kerbs. The buggies also come with suspension that Kath says "smooths out bumps extremely effectively".
Buggies with bigger wheels can be quite wide and may struggle to fit into tight spaces. This is an issue if you're using it as a jogger or to be able to get through doors that are narrow when out and about. The majority of models come with small folding options that let you remove the front wheels and store them in a more compact manner.
Easy to Manoeuvre
A three-wheel buggy can be more maneuverable for children. The way in which they are built ensures that the front wheels rotate on a dime and are really easy to maneuver and are ideal for tricky terrain like cobbles, parks, bumpy pavements and dirt tracks.
MFM reviewer Kath tried the 3-wheeler with her toddler, and she said: "The Terrain is a delight to navigate in rough terrain. The swivel wheel front was particularly useful." I was also awed by how well it dealt with kerbs using the hand-operated break. I found it extremely stable when driving downhill or over uneven ground."
The only drawback to this incredible maneuverability is that the three wheel buggy's larger wheels do sometimes mean that it can struggle in tight spaces - something to consider especially if you live in a city region. If this is a problem then a 4-wheeled buggy could be the better option for you.
Bumper bar
Bumper bars are the perfect way to protect your little one from bumps and scrapes when out and out and about. These bumper bars are simple to install and will make your child feel secure and safe while out and about.
The bumper bar is designed to match the sleek lines on your Slim Twin stroller. It features a soft, padded surface to provide a comfortable place for your child to grasp onto while walking. The sturdy construction and sturdy design will ensure that your child is comfortable strolling around town without having to worry about falling or leaning forward.
The sling seat made of fabric sits comfortably inside the frame rather than sitting on top like modular seats do, providing the lowest centre of gravity at the appropriate height for your newborn and also delivering an excellent weight distribution to facilitate kerb pop (it takes less effort to push a buggy up and over a curb than you think). MFM reviewer Kath said it was excellent on cobbles and grass. It's also a great option for running thanks to its air-filled tyres as well as a lockable swivel wheel.
This bumper bar will turn heads wherever it is used. It has a classy and fashionable design. Available in a variety of finishes and colors and designs, it can be tailored to suit your personal style. The bumper bar is easily removed and put in place using a quick-release mechanism. The bumper bar is also easy to clean as it is constructed of sturdy materials. This makes it a great option for families looking for an elegant and safe accessory for their stroller.
Comfort
A 3-wheel buggy offers the most maneuverability and performance when going off-road. With perfect geometry and weight distribution, this kind of buggy is able to change direction on a dime and be a breeze to steer with one hand. Mountain Buggies pass the same rigorous stability standards and tests as buggies with four wheels.
The clever design of the Sport places the fabric sling seat inside the frame, instead of sitting on top as modular seats. This allows it to have lower center of gravity which means it's more comfortable to push, has a less weighty curb-pop (you will not need to exert as much effort to lift the buggy's hood over the curb) and provides greater stability and balance. With the massive rear wheels that measure 16 inches and lockable swivel front wheels and tyres filled with air that require just a few pumps, you get a bump free ride over rough terrain, and a smoother more comfortable jog as well.
The only stroller that is all-terrain in our range that comes with an adult-facing seat that can also accept a car seat or carrycot, you are able to make sure your family is prepared for every adventure - from the very first day, and for years to be!
Kath who was our MFM reviewer, also adored the spaciousness of this buggy. There's an easily accessible, large basket that is surprising spacious for a vehicle that's this big. There's also three wheel pushchair on the back of the unit, as well as two smaller mesh pockets beneath the hood, where you can keep your keys and phone.
